Čepićko Field - Kršan - Boljun Castle - Lupoglav
Kršan
It is situated on one of the elevations overlooking Čepić field. The castle is set amidst meadows and picturesque karst rocks, formed by ancient water flows. Unlike Momjan, Kostel or nearby Boljun, Kršan is not situated on a dominant elevation. However, its location was probably determined by the configuration of high rocks suitable for defense, surrounded by karst valleys and water-worn ravines forming a natural defensive trench around the rocks on top of which the fortified noble residence was built. It was first mentioned in the 13th c. when it became part of the County of Pazin. Only the rectangular tower remains of the medieval castle, whereas the residential and defensive complex was later reconstructed into new residential areas. In the inner courtyard is a rectangular frame of a Gothic portal from the 15th c. and well crown with the year 1666 inscribed. Inside the castle is the Town Hall and Parish Church of St. Anthony the Abbott from the 17th c., and at the cemetery stands the Chapel of St. James from the 15th c.
