Cave Mramornica - Feštini Kingdom - Cave Baredine
Feštini kingdom
You will find it in the heart of Istria, near the village Feštini not far from Žminj. It was named kingdom by children surprised by the miraculous space and forms in which their imagination saw a magician’s hat, the wings of a bat, the Tower of Babel and many others. The cave was discovered by chance by farmers in the field above it. During the war it served as a place to hide from the enemy.
The cave has maintained trails about one hundred meters long. One of its rooms has an irregular oval shape and is 67 meters long. The widest part of the cave is 27 meters; it is nine meters deep, while the ceiling at some places is six meters high. The cave is nicely decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, columns, drapery, helictites, curtains, crystals and dripstone layers. Dripstones have a brown, red and milky white color as well as blue-purple shades. The small lake that is only a few centimeters deep is a habitat of the albino small crab, while the entire cave provides a habitat for many bats.
